What Kind of Travel Experience Do You Want?

So you’re going on a trip. Fantastic! Exciting! But what sort of trip are you planning to take? Is it for business or pleasure? Where are you headed? Who are you going with? Just what kind of travel experience do you want?

Traveling on a budget can give you all sorts of experiences, depending on a) your budget, b) where you want to go, and c) what you want to do. Everyone’s budget will be different, and traveling on a budget means knowing how much money you can afford to spend and sticking to that amount. So if you have a budget of two thousand dollars, your travel experience will be different from someone who has a budget of ten thousand dollars. It’s all relative to the dollar amount, but knowing some tricks to help you save money while traveling will make your dollars stretch further therefore increasing your travel experience.

Do you want to travel overseas? Do you want to travel around your home country? Do you want to stay in luxury accommodation or are you going to back- pack? Are you traveling with children or are you honeymooning? Are you traveling with a bunch of friends or are you keen to experience a group tour with strangers? Do you want to go to popular tourist sites or do you want to experience a destination’s way of living in remote areas?

All these questions are things you need to ask yourself before you begin to plan your trip. You can either plan your trip with your budget in mind, or plan your trip, work out how much money you’ll need and save until you can get there. The first is probably a little easier to do because when the travel bug hits, you generally want to take off as soon as possible. Knowing your budget can guide you in making your decision of how and where you will be traveling. But if you have your heart set on a trip of a lifetime to an exotic island in the Pacific then you will need to save accordingly. It’s your choice.

Once you know what type of experience you are after, it’s time to work out the best way to get it on your available funds. Traveling on a budget is easier than you think these days. No longer does it mean living on stale food and sleeping in questionable accommodation. If you are wise and spend some time investigating deals to your chosen destination you could be able to enhance your traveling experience more than you thought possible. A bit of research will get you a long way when traveling on a budget.

a 2 year degree in hospitality would be fabulous. but still you dont need it . you graduated high school right? thats all the technically required. they also like people who are good at langauges, good with people and who have travelled extensively. isee your questions regarding trips, so i'm sure you do fine on that account.

You need to work for a multimational company to travel as part of your job.

I know that audit roles in multinational companies require international travel so that could be an option for you. Also, some analyst roles require international travel.

Kids remember the time with their parents and doing things together more than they do the destination. Kids are also quick to pick up that we can't always get to do what we want to do when we want to do it, that sometimes we have to scale back to fit our realities. That's what shapes a child as he or she grows up. Children for centuries did without Disney World or Six Flags, and a summer or two without a bigger than life trip isn't the end of the world and gives the family a chance to reevaluate its core values.
Having said that, you can still get away for a vacation during tough times, by just living within in your means and making it special. Camping is one way, the lake instead of the ocean, picnics instead of theme parks, a minor league baseball instead of major league game.

I suspect since you provided your own answer that you are pushing an idea rather than seeking an answer.

  10. Hey, do you have a franchisee in Lumbini zone, can you arrange a taxi for me from Sunauli to Pokhara and acomodation at Pokhara preferably near Fewa.

Salary is not good, you get paid minimally for only the trips that you take…..at first you will be assigned trips within the USA. Those with the most experience get the European trips. You make most of your money on tips — sometimes as much at 10 times what you are paid.
I would suggest looking for a part time job as a tour guide at a local museum, etc. It will get you started on the ins and outs of working with people and getting prepared for the types of questions that you may experience.

  13. You sound very inexperienced, you might want to have a licensed travel agent help you.If you have the FFmiles with Delta,it probably makes sense to book the travel with them.
It will cost a little more for the travel agents service and so will the all inclusive option although they may tell you it doesn't, but an agent will at least save you the frustration and maybe find a deal that you would have missed.
I'm sure I travel much differently than you and your husband so the amount I take and spend on a trip would likely be much less than you would spend. I don't care for the resort lifestyle and would rather find a clean, family run hotel in a quiet neighborhood.I also enjoy eating in the small neighborhood restaurants and visiting with the locals. (They know where all the good stuff is).I have been traveling for a long time and I think I know nearly all the tricks so excluding airfare,my costs for hotel, food, entertainment and ground transportation averages between US$50-75 dollars per day depending what country I'm in.
    Have a great trip!

    1. Learn a foreign language. Check out evening continuing education courses at a local college or university.

    2. Learn a new sport or hobby. Anything from sky/scuba-diving, snow-skiing to golfing and woodworking (or sewing,as applicable)

    3. Join a book club or a travel club.

4.Travel overseas once a year to a different country. Spend the rest of the year learning the language and culture of that country

    5. Join a volunteer organization. Check with the United Way. Feel rewarding from helping people. Just a couple of hours a week.

Dress modestly. Make sure there is somebody at the airport to meet you (the main Lagos airport is a rather scary place seemingly in perpetual chaos). You will be approached by many guys promising you the world and suggesting you go with them, often pretending to be cab drivers. Sorry to rain on your parade, but there are thousands of Nigerians – men and women – who will jump at the chance of coming to USA and romance via internet is simply a new avenue of opportunity. If this man is prepared to help you with your air fare, that is a sign that he is genuine. If he tries to change the subject, make excuses or flatly refuses then proceed with caution as it is very easy on the Internet to pretend to be something you are not. A man posing as Managing Director of his own company with 200 staff under him could turn out to be a humble laborer making barely enough money to survive.
