Traveling at the Right Time of Year Costs Less
Posted by business | travelling | Posted on March 14th, 2010

The best time to travel is in the holidays, right? Not if you want to make big savings on your traveling costs it’s not. If you travel in off peak (or low season) periods, or even in the shoulder season, you’ll find traveling costs a lot less.
Where are you traveling? Do you know the peak travel times for this destination? Summer and spring, no matter where you are, are generally considered the peak seasons to travel, unless you are a winter sports enthusiast. In that case, ski resorts will be having their peak season in winter. And what hemisphere are you thinking of visiting? The seasons differ depending on whether you are north or south. For example, the North America summer months are June, July, August but in Australia the summer months are December, January and February. You will need to research your destination to find out the low season times to visit.
First of all, what type of savings can you expect to make if you travel in the off-peak season?
1. Air fares are much cheaper. There are less people wanting to fly so air carriers drop their prices to attract customers. Take advantage of these great savings. If you are traveling in the high season, see if you can book a flight mid-week. These flights are generally cheaper too.
2. Accommodation is cheaper and more readily available. In high season it can be difficult to find a place to stay in popular tourist destinations and when you do find somewhere it can be up to twice as much as when traveling in the off peak.
3. Eating in restaurants can be cheaper too. Owners will be trying to attract patrons so see what sort of deals you can find when eating out.
There are some other positives to traveling in the off peak season, other than saving money. There are fewer tourists for one, so visiting any cultural sight will be much more enjoyable. You can get more of an idea of what a destination is really like without the thousands of extra people. Experiencing the true culture is a real bonus. Did you know that opera season is in full swing in Europe in winter? Or that winter in Australia is often the best time to visit places in the north when the humidity and heat are bearable. Or how about visiting the best holiday markets in Germany in December? Do some research to find out what your chosen destination can offer in off peak, ones that you won’t experience in high season travel times.
So what are the negatives of traveling in the off peak? Well there are a few, but if you plan well you can overcome most drawbacks. Off peak usually means traveling in colder weather and that also means less daylight hours. Pack wisely and remember to dress in layers for the cold weather. Some tourist places close earlier or do not open at all in the off peak, so check up before you go so you are not disappointed. You will also find that in some areas the public transport system does not run as often as in peak tourist season. Find out what options you have to get to places and don’t be caught out missing the last bus home in the middle of winter, in the middle of nowhere! Some hotels and museums close down for the winter to re-furbish and get ready for the next high season influx of tourists. You can gamble and bargain your way to a great accommodation deal once you get to your destination, but all your bartering skills will be of no use if the hotels are all closed. It’s best to check what’s open before you go.
If traveling in the off-peak doesn’t sound attractive to you, then you might like to try the shoulder season and still get some travel price reductions. The shoulder season is considered the period leading up to and away from the high season. Usually in this time you’ll get decent weather, less crowds and lower travel costs – not the great bargains you’ll get in off peak, but lower costs nonetheless.

great done
Trust me… EVERYONE feels this EXACT same feeling in varying degrees from say 16 to 35. Just go with it. Do what you want to do, but not doing anything is not really a great idea. I know you are feeling impatient and restless, but believe me, opportunities will come up and there will be paths for you to explore that you never could have imagined. All you have to do is get out there and try something. Try something and everything!
But not the military, lol.
If you are comfortable being home, why not do the community college route for now? Take a part time job along with it. Gives you a lot of room to feel your way through this place you're at now.
you've basically hit it right on the nose. there isn't really any other way of telling your wife that it's not a good idea unless she hears about someone else doing it and instead of succeeding when the other way. In her eyes there are greener pastures on the other side of the fence and she wants that greener pasture but never judge a book by it's cover meaning just because it looks greener doesn't mean it is.
just keep trying the same way you have been. and keep saying the same thing you have been until she hears it from another's mouth. It's like those times when you thought of it first but in order for say your dad to agree you have to make it seem like he thought of it first..does that make sense??
good luck to you and I completely agree with what you are saying, me and my hubby have passed on the moving to another city just because the pay seems so much more than what we are making now, because when we looked at the whole picture, if we had moved we would have been stressed financially, the cost of living there compared to the amount paid is way more then here..
Mach weiter so, Benny!!! <3
You must be joking.
These problems are simple for me but you'll never learn if you don't at least try to solve them.
Pick any two for me to solve.
This seems more like a statement than a question. Just because you have a question mark at the end of a sentence does not make it a question.
Cool das er trotzdem Musik macht!
ey geil das er trotzdem weitermacht mit seiner musik und sich nich aufgibt
ich glaube an ihn

Der Lipgloss ist ein bisschen viel

Tell her you want 2 meet her at a coffee shop, somewhere public.. And tell her how you are feeling about her and how this affects your life. Tell her you love her to death and don't want 2 c anything bad happen 2 her.. Hope this helps
it sounds to me like you've already made a decision but obviously you'll take a cut in pay which isn't the $7,000 but more since you're additing the cost of commuting by car and maybe the odd other things.
The way I would look at it is simple. What's more important, a little extra money or a chance to do what makes you happy and offers you an opportunity for ever more success and growth? Personally I think that's a no brainer but then I'm not motivated by money. However I get the feeling you're the same too.
I'd suggest sorting out your new budget and then moving on to what appears to be an exciting new opportunity. I accept that this means a bit of financial hardship but I have a hunch within six months of being settled that will be gone. I remember the first time I had a mortgage, I thought I'd be living like a pauper for decades, but I didn't, six months later life was "normal" again albeit with a minor new definition of normal. And of course over time things got ever better with promotions and raises along the way every so often. Good Luck!
nice voice
Follow your heart. Really try to listen to your heart. Ask yourself which one you enjoy doing more, which one you'll still be doing years from now, which one is the most beneficial. Don't try to get an answer immediately; just think about it and try to listen to what your heart is telling you.
Imagine that you chose skating–how do you feel? Regretful? Disappointed? Relieved? Glad? Do the same for soccer. This could tell you something about yourself you might not know consciously.
Is there a possible compromise you could make?
You shouldn't listen to random biased people on the internet about such a huge, personal decision as this. We do not know what's best for you, what your heart desires, what you should do.
That said, since you asked I will share my opinion, but not meant for you to follow necessarily, just to keep in mind. I think figure skating would be better because it is more likely that you will succeed and do better in this sport because there are just so many soccer players and the world of figure skating is so much smaller and more elite. Let's face it, you will probably not make it onto a professional or olympic soccer team because there are so many thousands of extremely soccer players all competing for it. If your coach believes that you can become a senior medalist by eleventh grade, it sounds like you are likely to succeed. It sounds like you are much more talented at figure skating than at soccer. Your dad is right that you could get a soccer scholarship to college, and your coach is right that figure skating is impressive on an application. It could also be possible to get a figure skating scholarship. From reading your description, it sounds as if–even if you don't know this consciously, but it showed up in your writing–your heart wants to so figure skating. You sounded like you were afraid the soccer would restrict the skating. Your goals for figure skating seem much more ambitious, heart-felt, decided, and sure of yourself than your soccer goals. Also, the reasons you wanted to figure skate were what you wanted to do. The reasons for soccer were mostly what other people wanted you to do (your father likes it more, your family is involved, etc.) Don't choose something because other people want you to do it. Follow your heart.
I understand what you're going through because I always have a lot of trouble with decisions, too. Best of luck!!!
Benny!!!!!! <3
Schade dass er nich gewonnen hat! Er wär auf jedenfall erfolgreicher geworden als Daniel Schuhmacher!
Aber wahrscheinlich wird Benny auch so berühmt!
